As It Rhymes
1.
Duryodhana said,
‘Kshatta, respect must be paid.
We’ve won Draupadi fair and square.
The Pandavas dear wife is now a servant maiden.
Her character at one with our washing basin.’
2-3.
Vidura said,
‘Foolishly puffed up in vain.
This enmity is insane.
It’s a trap. A noose.
Know now what hell you’ve let loose.
You’re entangled and misled.
You’re facing a bay of bengals.
Besides Pandavas are relatives.
A great poison drips on your head.
Anger spills from your mouth rotted soul.
Do not chase Yama south for an own goal.
4.
No servitude may attach to Krishnaa’s name by Yudhishthira’s stake.
My opinion the King had lost himself before he made his last mistake.
5.
For Dhritarashtra’s son, wealth is a fluted vice.
The wise fear a great enmity was won by polluted dice.
6.
Wicked words will be spilled.
Sinful worlds will be filled.
7.
You’ve uttered untruthful bile in youthful insolence.
Nightfall will follow violence.
8.
There once was a market goat who swallowed a hook.
To get it out a butcher pressed the goat’s head to the earth and cut its throat.
9.
Words of enmity are not sparked by Partha.
Pathetic words like yours are not barked at forest dweller or householder or scholar or ascetic.
10.
Dhritarashtra’s son opens the door to hell.
The Kurus who follow Duhshasana’s angry ignorance swell.
11-12.
A stone will sink when dropped into the drink.
Besotted men are bewildered by peace.
Fool king Dhritarashtra’s son does not think.
Call it cause and effect.
Call it prophecy.
The Kuru’s will burn like a forest of dry wood doused in grease.
Not even for poets’ pleas from well-wishers on bended knees will you cease.
All the death that lies ahead falls from greed and grief.’
